Full Job Description

Post Transplant Dietitian and Diabetes Educator (RDN Level 3)

Opening for: Full-Time Position: 40 hours (*Outpatient clinics: Dallas Transplant Institute* (DTI) and coverage at another office)

Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated CKD & Transplant Dietitian. This position is integral to maintaining optimal post-transplant care and involves managing a complex patient population with co-morbidities. The dietitian will be part of a team committed to excellence in post-transplant care, including diabetes management. The RDN will also provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in an outpatient setting for patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).

Qualification Requirements:

  • 5+ years as a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN, LD)
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential
  • Experience in organ transplant and/or chronic kidney disease (CKD) care
  • Previous outpatient setting experience
  • Hospital in-patient RDNs (level 3) with strong renal and transplant backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
  • Experience in providing mentorship or preceptorship is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for post-transplant and CKD patients
  • Manage the impact of steroids/immunosuppressants (diabetes, weight, lipid control, electrolyte corrections)
  • Conduct thorough food and supplement safety reviews
  • Recommend or provide nutrition-related products and disease-management supplies as needed
  • Provide information on specialty practices/services/groups and area meal programs
  • Develop educational materials, ensuring proper literacy/numeracy levels
  • Participate in marketing strategies (podcasts, articles, flyers, presentations)
  • Stay updated with current research and participate in journal article reviews
  • Engage in lecture opportunities and authorship as appropriate
  • Successfully collaborates with DNA team of RDNs, physicians, and other DNA staff members

Preferred:

  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) | Required
  • Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CCTD) or RDN-Advanced Practioner (RDN-AP) credential is a plus
  • Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics - Renal Practice Group (AND-RPG) and/or National Kidney Foundation - Council on Renal Nutrition (NKF-CRN)
  • Spanish or other foreign language skills
