About the position
The position at Concordia College involves being an integral part of a highly effective team dedicated to researching and creating recipes and menus that reflect culturally authentic and immersive food experiences. The role requires a commitment to the mission and vision of Concordia College and Concordia Language Villages, demonstrating the competencies defined for this position. The individual will engage in menu and recipe development, collaborating with language communities to ensure that the menus align with the curricular goals of the programs. This includes researching and developing recipes that support the designed menus while adhering to budgetary constraints.
The position also entails maintaining comprehensive menu and recipe information for future reference. In addition to menu development, the role includes providing team support through staff supervision. This involves participating in the recruitment and hiring of team members, supervising their daily work, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and Minnesota Food Code requirements. The individual will also be responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and cleaning up culturally authentic meals, managing food quality, safety, and sanitation standards, and ensuring an organized and clean food service work area. Furthermore, the position emphasizes staff development and training.
The individual will coordinate and implement a Personal Professional Development Plan in collaboration with Administration and Language Groups, which may include certifications in Culinary Arts and/or Education fields. The role also involves assisting with the implementation of training workshops and sessions for all members of the Culinary Arts Department, fostering a culture of continuous professional growth.

Responsibilities
- Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and Concordia Language Villages.
- Coordinate with language communities to research and create culturally authentic menus for assigned language groups.
- Research and develop recipes that support designed menus.
- Plan menus and recipes within budgetary constraints.
- Maintain menu and recipe information for future use.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring team members.
- Supervise daily work of team members and ensure compliance with performance standards.
- Document and take corrective action for job-related behavior that does not meet performance standards.
- Prepare, cook, serve, and clean up culturally authentic meals.
- Anticipate daily thawing needs and correct possible food shortages.
- Maintain food quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Manage food waste and ensure an organized and clean food service work area.
- Coordinate and implement a Personal Professional Development Plan for staff.
- Assist with the implementation of training workshops and sessions for Culinary Arts Department members.
Requirements
- Experience in culinary arts or a related field.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and Minnesota Food Code requirements.
- Ability to develop culturally authentic recipes and menus.
- Experience in staff supervision and team management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
